2022 INFINITI QX55 vs. QX50: Which is Best?
It’s no secret that the all-new 2022 INFINITI QX55 is based on the technical underpinnings of the latest INFINITI QX50. Both vehicles are powered by the same turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 with variable compression and share many similarities beyond what’s under the hood. This also means they both bring the versatility and indulgence modern consumers expect from a luxury SUV while boasting sports car levels of dynamic performance. With so many shared features between the two models, the question becomes, which 2022 INFINITI SUV is best for you?
To help you decide which model is suitable for your Miami driving needs, we’ve compared the 2022 INFINITI QX55 vs. QX50 side by side. Read on to learn, then arrange a test drive with us at South Motors INFINITI in Miami, FL, to see how they match up in person.
Refined Performance
As mentioned, the 2022 INFINITI QX55 and QX50 both come with a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-4 with variable compression. This engine makes 268 horsepower, 280 lb-ft of torque and delivers quiet, refined performance. But while the QX55 comes standard with all-wheel drive, the QX50 has a standard front-wheel drive, although it can be outfitted with all-wheel drive on request. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) is standard in both models.
Clean Yet Emotionally Appealing Cabin
Inside, the 2022 INFINITI QX55 is equipped similarly to the QX50. Both vehicles feature simulated leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless ignition, and power-adjustable front seats. However, the QX55 offers a standard heating function for the front seats, while you’ll have to upgrade to the QX50 Luxe trim to benefit from the heating system.
Expectedly, higher models of both vehicles come with progressively more luxury equipment. These include a heated steering wheel, leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, driver’s seat memory settings, and tri-zone automatic climate control with air filtration. Overall, the QX50 is the posher vehicle, though. Its top-of-the-line Autograph trim features quilted premium leather upholstery, ambient lighting, and maple wood trim, which aren’t available in the QX55.
With regard to cargo space, the Q55 had to give up some room to accommodate its sloppy roofline. As a result, it has 26.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind its rear seats and 54.1 cubic feet with these seats folded. The QX50 is more expansive, with 31.4 cubic feet of cargo space behind its rear seats and 65.1 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down.
Advanced Safety Technologies
The 2022 QX55 shares the same active safety features as the QX50. These include a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and automatic high-beam headlights. The QX50 standard features list is more extensive, however, as it includes lane-keep assist and ProPilot Assist, which are optional in the QX55.
Optional features common to both models include a surround-view parking camera system, traffic sign recognition, a head-up display, adaptive headlights, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and front parking sensors.
Intuitive Infotainment System
Technology is another aspect in which the INFINITI QX55 and QX50 are similar. Both models offer 8- and 7-inch touchscreens, wireless Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ capability, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hotspot, satellite radio, and a six-speaker sound system. However, the QX50 offers five USB ports, while the QX55 has four. A navigation system and a 16-speaker audio system are optional in both models.
