Vettel-inspired Infiniti FX arriving soon
A Sebastian Vettel-inspired FX concept is now headed into production. Infiniti plans on introducing a new FX50 variant inspired by the F1 world champion Vettel.
The concept was revealed last month at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show, along with the fact that a production model is currently underway.
The finer details, such as pricing and launch date, are forthcoming.
"Doing the FX Sebastian Vettel version for Frankfurt was fun, but it's also kind of a pilot," said Andy Palmer, Infiniti executive vice president, in a statement. "It's about our equivalent of Mercedes-Benz AMG or BMW M Cars. We wanted to test the organization and see if it could cope with this type of special version.
"Sebastian's FX demonstrates we are able to do low-volume specials, and the FX Sebastian Vettel version is one of the first that will go to market."
The newest Infiniti FX50 will be equipped with a 414 HP 5.0 liter V8 engine and an aerodynamics packaged developed by Infiniti with input from the Red Bull Racing Team. This comes as no surprise, as Infiniti has been a long-time sponsor of Vettel's Formula One racecar and they have longed to honor Vettel, who is considered the world's greatest driver by many.
