The History of Infiniti
Back then, like now, Nissan had more of a mainstream image and created the Infiniti brand to explore the North American market with a full line of luxurious, high-performance vehicles. It was not long before Honda and Toyota joined the clamor with their own premium brands - Lexus and Acura.
The first official Infiniti vehicle sold was the Infiniti Q45, a remarkable vehicle with a V8 engine, active suspension and four-wheel steering. Its remarkable engineering made it an immediate success, and soon North America would see decades of automotive genius flying from the Infiniti banner. The sportier M30 soon followed, and coupled with the customer-centric "Total Ownership Experience", Infiniti soon carved out a name as an industry leader in customer satisfaction and high-performance luxury from such recognized authorities like JD Power and Associates. By the end of their first humble decade, Infiniti was selling 75,000 units a year.
By 2002, Infiniti again gained both recognition and glory with the introduction of the award-winning G35 Sedan and Coupe, with the FX close on its heels. Reviews were exceptional and the Infiniti name was soon a household name. Customer response was excellent, and unit sales surpassed the 100,000 annual mark in 2003, making Infiniti the fastest-growing luxury brand in the US. By 2004, Infiniti had sold over 1 million vehicles world-wide.
Since then, Infiniti has focused its vision on looking ahead, steering into new horizons and exploring unique elements of design in its creations. Rather than being a premium brand for all people, Infiniti is a more personal statement to those discerning car shoppers that can tell and want true exclusivity and unique design.
